Google Docs File Format Support Expanded

Google Docs has added 12 more file formats to its library of supported filetypes. If you don’t have the software to open a file that’s been sent to you, more and more, Google Docs will be able to help you look at it.

New filetypes supported:

  • Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
  • Apple Pages (.PAGES)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
  • Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
  • PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
  • TrueType (.TTF)
  • XML Paper Specification (.XPS)

Google Docs official announcement has all the details. The support of Apple’s Pages is one that we’ve had a lot of inquiries about and are glad to see it rolled out.
